Monckton Myths

John Cook's Skeptical Science website has done it again with a great compilation of Monckton Myths.

Christopher Monckton, trained in classics and journalism with no scientific credentials, is influential among the right-wing libertarian and fossil-fuel supported contrarians/deniers/faux skeptics. Monckton falsely claims that he is a member of the British House of Lords and claims to have invented a cure for AIDS and the common cold. He was invited by Republicans to testify on climate science before the U.S. Congress in 2010, and that testimony was described by actual scientists as containing, among other attributes, "chemical nonsense". As the distinguished MIT climatologist Kerry Emanuel says, "Thus into the arena steps a whole host of charlatans posing as climate scientists..."  Richard Feynman's Cargo Cult Science is quite applicable. A Monckton lecture was devastatingly refuted by the scientist John Abraham, see HERE.
