This is your own UU Youth column for comments on climate change and global warming. Let's show the world that you really are doing something about this big problem! What can you do to get the facts out on global warming and how can you help? Discussing and organizing action is the purpose of the Youth Column.
This is an exciting new group. HERE is where you can learn more.
Here is an example of young adult action.
Young Adults for Climate Justice at General Assembly, 2013
"We create a theological, ethical, and environmental justice frame for this conversation by exploring how values shape consumption patterns, resource distribution, resource extraction, and disposal patterns. We will then have a panel of young adult climate justice organizers share their organizing stories and praxis with workshop participants."
So go ahead - do your own thing. Create your own climate action plan. DO IT.
Here is a really important suggestion for concrete action - learn and use educational materialto "Counter the Contrarians". This will be useful in helping to move forward for climate action by countering misleading disinformation generally put out by right-wing media and supported by the fossil fuel industry. Some contrarians assert that there is no global warming ("it's a myth"). Other contrarians say that there is global warming, but humans are not causing it. Still others contend that there is human-caused global warming, but it is beneficial. Finally others assert that while human-caused global warming exists and is bad, it's too expensive to try to stop it. These people are wrong, they're holding up progress on action on global warming, and they can be loud and aggressive.
Let's just put the loud and aggressive contrarian approach this way:
You might get some ideasHERE, a website called "It's Getting Hot In Here - Dispatches from the Youth Climate Movement". From their site: "It’s Getting Hot in Here is the voice of a growing movement. A community media project, it features the student and youth leaders from the movement to stop global warming and to build a more just and sustainable future. Read more...". And HERE is the link for the Sierra Student Coalition.

Washington, D.C./Berkeley, California, July 26, 2010 - Hip hop performances, an eco-friendly dance floor and dinner aboard a hybrid ferry were among the more unusual highlights of the Tunza North American (Tunzana) Youth Network Conference, held from July 23-25 in California.

MIT Climatologist Kerry Emanuel castigates "Climategate" attacksLast Updated on 2017-03-29 21:41:30The distinguished MIT climatologist Prof. Kerry Emanuel wrote a very hard-hitting essay: "Climategate": A Different Perspective, posted on the politically conservative National Association of Scholars NAS website on 7/19/10. Emanuel castigates the vicious right-wing attack on legitimate climate science that uses the pretext of the hacked emails and the minor IPCC report errors. This essay is extremely important. Click here for quotes.
HERE is a video of Emanuel testifying recently before the Science and Technology Committee of the US House of Representatives:

Power Shift and Youth Involvement on Climate ChangeLast Updated on 2014-03-29 09:24:31 POWER SHIFT
Climate change is often thought of as a political issue mostly discussed and dealt with by adults in the confines of a congressional house or the United Nations. But global warming is something that affects everyone, not just politicians. Young people will be especially affected because they will live longer and experience the more severe effects of global warming, since it is only getting worse.
Many youths have realized this and decided to take action. Some are being galvanized by the organizations Energy Action Coalition and Power Shift. Both seek to increase youth involvement with the movement to mitigate climate change.
One major event organized by Power Shift was a march in Washington, DC. The big push was on April 18, 2011, in which thousands of youths marched to make their voices heard on climate... More »
