UN Commission for Sustainable Development - Climate Change
The United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD) was established by the UN General Assembly in December 1992 to ensure effective follow-up of United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED), also known as the Earth Summit. The CSD is part of the Division for Sustainable Development, which is part of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs at the UN.
For more on UN Sustainable Development, including history, see HERE.
The Commission for Sustainable Development has held many events on climate change, including the 15th CSD. The CSD-15 session concluded on 11 May 2007. As the Policy session of the second implementation cycle, CSD-15 continued its focus in the following areas:
CSD18 and CSD19
Themes of the current CSD 18 and CSD19 have some overlap with climate, especially transport and a 10-year framework of programmes on sustainable consumption and production.

NGOs at the UN, CoNGO, and Climate Change
NGO means "Non-Governmental Organization". Many NGOs at the UN have "Consultative Status" with the UN Economic and Social Council ECOSOC. Many NGOs are active in climate change.
CoNGO
The Conference of Non-Governmental Organizations in Consultative Relationship with the United Nations (CoNGO) is an independent, international, non-profit membership association of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that have consultative status with ECOSOC.
HERE is the CoNGO statement on climate change.

Committee on Sustainable Development - (Conference of NGOs, NY)

One UN organization active in climate change is the Committee on Sustainable Development CoNGO NY, whose members are NGOs (including the UU-UNO). This committee produced the one-page document "Climate Change: A Discussion Paper". This paper was supported by over 100 NGOs, and many NGOs contributed to the content. A representative of the CoNGO CSD (NY) Executive Committee presented it at the 2009 CoNGO Vienna Board meeting, and it was put on the CoNGO website. The paper was then hand-delivered to leaders at the 2009 Copenhagen Climate Conference COP15, and distributed to UN missions in NY. It was presented at the Klimaforum, a parallel climate conference to the main COP15 Copenhagen conference. For running commentary, see the UU-UNO Copenhagen blog.
The paper was revised and distributed at the COP16 2010 Climate Conference in Cancun, Mexico. It was further updated for the COP17 2011 Climate Conference in Durban, South Africa and distributed to the UNFCCC Government Parties and Observer States list, the UNFCCC Civil Society list, and the CoNGO membership of NGOs.
There is also a separate Climate Change Working Group of the CoNGO CSD (NY) with different activities.
Some CoNGO CSD (NY) NGO members have given presentations in Commission for Sustainable Development meetings.
HERE is a recent paper by the CoNGO CSD, "Earth Summit Rio+20".
Minutes of the CoNGO CSD (NY) meetings are HERE.
Here are CoNGO CSD (NY) members at the Copenhagen conference with the President of CoNGO:
