INTRODUCTION:
The Special Report for Managing the Risks of Extreme Events and Disasters to Advance Climate Change Adaptation (SREX) was a collaborative effort of IPCC Working Group I, which focuses on the physical science basis of climate change and Working Group II, which focuses on impacts, adaptation, and vulnerability, with Working Group II holding the overall responsibility. More than 80 authors, 19 review editors, and more than 100 contributing authors from all over the world contributed to the preparation of SREX.

Qin Dahe, Co-chair of IPCC Working Group I, which together with Working Group II was responsible for the development and preparation of the report, said: “There is high confidence that both maximum and minimum daily temperatures have increased on a global scale due to the increase of greenhouse gases.”
